Wedding Spray Tans

So, you’ve found the man and dress of your dreams…. now it’s time to plan all the details for the BIG day. As a spray tanning artist in the Louisville, Kentucky wedding industry these are my top recommendations for making sure your wedding spray tan goes flawless.

Always, do a trial tan before the week of your wedding. Yes, it’s just a spray tan…but so many more factors go into making sure your tone/shade compliments your day other than just showing up to your appointment. (Use your trial tan for your wedding shower, bachelorette party, or engagement pictures.)

Unless you’re an experienced spray tanner, wedding day spray tans should be scheduled two days before wedding. For example, if you’re getting married on a Saturday, you should schedule your spray tan appointment for Thursday. This ensures that you will be able to shower at least once before your wedding day. Showering well once before prevents bronzer from transferring onto the inside of your dress. We want that dress pristine for you after the wedding for preservation or resale!!!

Planning on getting manicures/pedicures?? This must be done BEFORE your spray tan, especially if YOU’RE the bride. Most photographers will want to snap pictures of your hands, bouquet, wedding bands for your album. There’s a high chance your nail tech will use products meant to remove nail polish and shed dry skin on your hands and feet. Why risk the chance of having these products possibly removing your tan on your fingertips before photos!

Thinking of getting a massage the week of your wedding? Schedule it before your tan and NOT on the day of your appointment. Any licensed massage therapist will tell you that your skin will be moved and pushed vigorously during your massage which will cause exfoliation of skin cells. Also, most massage therapists use lotion or body oils while completing their job. Heavy lotion and oils on your skin the day of your spray tan appointment is a big NO NO.

The final weeks before your wedding can be chaotic with making everything fit into a

timeline. This is exactly why I recommend my bridal clients not even worry about scheduling their wedding tan until 3-4 weeks before their wedding. While I completely understand the excitement and urgency to book 6 months to a year in advance it isn’t needed for your spray tan appointments. You just never know when you’ll need to do an extra dress fitting, when you’ll squeeze in time to do your nails, when you plan to shower, etc until closer to your actual day.
