Can you spray tan with a sun burn?

Let's talk sunburns a spray tans! It’s that time of year where I get tons of questions on “Can you fix my tan lines?” Short answer if you’re not sunburned, I can blend your tan lines for sure! If you’re sunburned, I’m not touching you with a 10 ft pole. Here’s my reasoning why: When your skin gets burned by UV light it can damage several layers of your

epidermis. It’s the main reason you peel for days following that fun day in the sun; your body is purging itself of the damaged skin cells. If your skin is damaged predicting the outcome of your spray tan is like playing Russian Roulette. Your skin may tan. It could peel like a snake for days or shed for weeks following depending on the severity of your sun burn. If you luckily only burned isolated areas of your body, this makes me spray tanning you even worse! When you start to exfoliate aka shed skin faster in one area than another, you’re going to start looking like a walker from The Walking Dead. Now, let’s add spray tan to that skin that’s “molting” off your body. It is my job to make you look flawless; that’s not a look worthy of red-carpet selfies or expensive wedding photography. Also, as a Master Certified Spray Tan Artist I know how important it is to understand the science behind your product. Spray tan solution is drastically affected by temperature. Your normal body heat is no big deal for the luxury solution line I use. But, skin that is sunburned and feels like the surface of the sun when touching….ehhhh…..not so much. Changing the temperature of spray tan solution can result in brassy tans that even Trump would not be a fan of!

So, what to do if you’re sunburned and need a tan? Embrace your natural skin tone. Keep yourself hydrated, that includes your skin with plant-based moisturizers. Once you’ve emerged from that sunburn cocoon schedule a spray with me and I’ll even out those tan lines. Safe sun is the BEST sun. Always use SPF
